Cultural Seminar in Berlin: Prof. Robert Shandley of Texas A&M University and Prof. Brent O. Peterson of Lawrence University are again offering a seminar June 22-July 27, 2014 in Berlin: Migration and German Culture: Berlin's Cultural Diversity Across Two Centuries. We offered the seminar in 2010 and 2012, with great teachers who seemed to love the experience. The seminar is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, and each of the participants will receive a stipend of $3900 to help defray expenses. We have room for 16 teachers in any subject area with at least intermediate mid German proficiency.

Prize for young translators: The Goethe-Institute NY announces the fourth annual Gutekunst Prize, open to all translators under the age of 35. The winning translator receives a check for $2500. Information can be found on the website at: http://www.goethe.de/ins/us/ney/bib/uef/gut/enindex.htm
